Metal Bush
The main advantage of a Metal Bush is its ability to withstand extreme mechanical stress, heavy loads, and high temperatures, protecting the shaft and providing structural support where rolling elements or rubber seals cannot function.

Wear Protection: It can be used as a sacrificial, replaceable sleeve inserted onto the shaft itself. The sealing lip (from a Nitrile or Viton seal) runs on the surface of the metal bush rather than the expensive main shaft, protecting the shaft from wear grooves.
Sealing System Component: Specialized bushing seals or floating ring seals are metal components that function as non-contact (or minimal-contact) seals. They limit leakage by creating a very small, controlled clearance gap (flow resistance) between the bush and the shaft, which is ideal for high-speed, high-pressure gas or fluid applications (e.g., in turbines or compressors) where conventional lip seals would generate excessive heat.
