Viton Oil Seals

The main advantage of Viton oil seals is their unparalleled combination of high heat and aggressive chemical resistance, making them the superior choice for critical sealing applications in harsh operating conditions.

Viton's unique molecular structure, which includes fluorine atoms, is what imparts its exceptional resistance properties. This makes it particularly vital in industries like aerospace, automotive (especially for fuel and engine systems), and chemical processing, where seal failure due to extreme temperature or aggressive media could lead to catastrophic equipment malfunction or safety hazards. While they tend to be more expensive than seals made from common elastomers like Nitrile (NBR), their longevity and reliability in severe conditions often justify the higher initial cost by significantly reducing maintenance and downtime.

Furthermore, Viton seals maintain their flexibility and sealing force over a wide temperature range, from very high highs down to moderate lows, offering a reliable barrier against leaks. They are not only resistant to various fluids but also exhibit excellent resistance to atmospheric oxidation, ozone, and UV radiation, contributing to their extended service life when exposed to outdoor or air-intensive environments. When selecting a seal material, the specific Viton grade must be matched to the operational temperature and chemical exposure for optimal performance.
